ABOUT  ZERO TO HERO 

Zero to Hero crafts is a project  under Women Rights Initiative for the  women to empower them break the cycle of poverty, be financially independent,  restore self esteem  giving them new hope for the future. Women in Busoga have trouble meeting their minimum household needs due to the lack of support from their spouses, the inadequate incomes families earn and the many children they have. Additionally, the increased levels of poverty have subjected women to gender and domestic violence rendering them vulnerable.   Through this project, women are able to learn about violence its causes, effects, and how to prevent and overcome abuse. WORI believes that an empowered woman is a powerful asset to the community and to the nation this  is why we empower women with knowledge and skills to enable them live a violence free and healthy life.

    Making jewellery out of recycled paper is the current and most important income-generating project for the women. Our wonderfully creative women make hand roll paper into bead shape to make necklaces, earrings, bags, bracelets, coin purses anklets, and belts. Being hand crafted, each design is unique exclusive and hard to duplicate.  We believe our hand made products will interest you that you will want to buy many of them. Our women are encouraged to save up money from their bead sales so they can start up small-scale sustainable businesses to improve the welfare of their families.

Change a life and make a difference with your paper bead purchase.

   All profits from the jewelry sales go to the women that we hold up.  There Possible event ideas to spark your imagination!

 You can host an African Bazaar; create your own “Bead Party” with friends and neighbors. Have fun while making a difference in the world! It's easy and wonderful .just let us know and we'll contact you to confirm/schedule. 

    About one week before your event we will ship you lots of colorful bead necklaces, bracelets and earrings, informational brochures about the women and how the beads are made, photos and stories about the Ugandan women, and Ugandan recipes. You can also include a necklace as part of the registration fee at your organization’s next event/conference.

Sell the necklaces after your church service where “changing the lives of the poor” was the sermon topic. Sell the necklaces at a local craft fair, stores or flea market or at your organization’s huge community-wide garage sale.

You can as well encourage your PTA or school service club to sell the necklaces as part of a service project which reaches out globally, not just locally.

Who Can Do This? Church groups, student groups, service and social clubs, and any other interested organizations or people are encouraged to join our project.

Bead product sales make a tremendous difference in the Ugandan women's lives. It helps them send their children to school, feed their families every day, buy needed medicines, and even start their own businesses. The beaded products can be meaningful gifts to your family and friends, but can also represent a gift of hope and caring to the Ugandan women and their families.

Necklaces  

Necklaces are specified as double long, or short, each necklace is unique made for teens and adults.  Most necklaces are mix of various colors and different shape depending on the paper used. One can also have a matched set of bracelets, necklaces and earrings when you make an order. Purchasing just one necklace can help employ a hardworking woman and enable her feed her family for days.

Our paper bead bags are also hand crafted from the smooth recycled paper that is used for the other products. Bags range from hand bags to coin purses. The multi-color paper bead bags and purses are our most popular items. They coordinate well with our other multi-color products. Besides beading, our women are proud to have developed extra skills. They are blissful that they can also make tailored products such as the patch work bags and slim bags.
